Beauty Of Black

I see a spot of beauty black

Such a shiny black velvet look

That flutters amongst my pretty lilies

With camera in hand, a photo I took.

Just flittering about, to and fro; lily to lily

It is a butterfly; big teacup in size

So delicate and graceful are your wings

Its beauty will surely take the prize.

Its body is a solid black

The wings are edged with a touch of white

An aqua color across the back

Its colors show best in sunlight bright.

It wouldn't stay long on just one lily

But liked the nectar of each one

To catch my black beauty was hard to do

It kept on the move till its lunch was done.

Few days later, I walked out in the yard

I saw the remains of my little black beauty

Wings underneath side had spots of orange

All in a row just like God made thee.

I love to sit on the porch and watch

For creatures that God had made

Most all of them, flutters and flies

At Calico Meadows, they've all played.
