Down on the farm where we live

We have some pretty Bluebirds

Trying hard to pop-u-late

A lot of chattering to be heard.

My son has built some nests to hang

On different post around the yard

You build and they will come to stay

But you have to be on guard.

Watch out for cats and other things

For they too, like me; have a lunch

A cat can't think of a better thing

Than to have a bird to munch.

I scolded my Cal-i-co one day

After I spied on the porch this bird

This Bluebird, I did show to her

She got a swat ~ understood what she heard.

Blue Jays, Cardinals and the "Mocke"

Cal-i-co knew, she could have them

But not the Bluebirds, they are pretty

To me and J.R., our Cal-i-co's a gem.
