Halloween Day is for eerie creatures
They come and prowl at night, I fear
Like Witches, Hobgoblins and such things
But let me tell you what else is weird.
While looking at my calendar today
October and November both will share
Two full moons on the 31st
So ghostly creatures best beware.
This October brings to us
A big "Blue Moon" across the sky
You ask, why do they call it that?
I will try and tell you why.
I don't know how that all got started
I know it's not a riddle or rhyme,
What "blue moon" really means is
"A very, very long period of time".
Years ago someone had said
"Once in a Blue Moon", we have two
So down through all the years it goes
This old saying really grew.

Halloween Day 2001
I guess you could really say
We usually only have just one,
Just one full moon per month, that is
To rise and come up when day is done.
October almost had two full moons
Tonite it's bright and all aglow!
Weatherman says it has a ring
The Man in the Moon just steals the show.
The other day, I saw a some news
That February 1865 did not have
A full moon at all ~ What a shame!
That's no way for a moon to behave.
I'll tell you this, 'twill be a long time
Before this happens on Halloween
Witches, Goblins and Ghosts beware
Tonite, heed our "Blue Moon" you've seen!
