Here is a lovely little story
About a cat who needed a home
This cat was left at the animal shelter
Nevermore to roam.
Margaret Harmon from the County Library
Was told of this handsome black and white cat
Who needed a very loving home
To make him pretty and get him fat.
Margaret took him to the County Library
She called him "Boris", that's his name
He soon found a favorite nook to sleep
On a shelf, among the books of fame.
He soon turned seven years old in age
People with allergies said he had to go
It was a sad and lonsesome place
For 17 months, he was our "beau".
Soon a new home was offered to Boris
The office at the Hearald and News
The people at the hometown newspaper
Had fallen in love ~ to him they'd be true.
Boris inspected his newpaper home
Everything seemed to suit him just fine
He liked to lie on this one light table
So he could check out the daily headlines.
Two new chairs were placed in the foyer
But Bois soon claimed them as his own
It is said he makes a wonderful greeter
As a person nears his chair: it's his throne.
March 2 is Boris' first anniversary
Great party we had for our celebrity cat
His library friend came to visit
Margaret caressed him with talk and a pat.
Boris has a favorite secluded haunt
In the publisher's office, he likes to hang out
He's frequently seen sitting in on closed meetings
"If only cats could talk", employees would tout.
Now, that it is Christmas Time
I wonder what Boris is up to now
I know that Santa will visit there
To fill Boris' stocking that has the red bow.
