Brothers Two, And Me

I am old but young at heart

I reminisce of days gone by

"Brothers Two" were older than me

We had our spats, but don't know why!

We 3 had skates and a bicycle, too.

Sometimes at night, we'd lay on the lawn

And look up in the sky at all the stars

To see Constellations that God had drawn.

Friends would come to play and visit

Day or night, Croquet was played

For Dad stung lights out in our yard

So we could see where our ball had strayed.

Dominoes was the older kid's game

Forty-Two was their favorite thing

Remember the two that always won?

At forty-two, they're the queen and king.

Sister was the oldest of us four

All too soon we were young adults

"Brothers Two" were drafted to serve

In Uncle Sam's Air Corps were the results.

I remember once, the oldest of "Brothers Two"

He had a new car, but just for fun

From a buddy, he bought this Model-T

Down the road I drove, my adventure had begun.

Now, the youngest of my "Brothers Two"

A motorcycle, he had bought

From my experience, it's really cold

If riding that cycle in a dress you're caught.

Skating!  "Brothers Two" and I loved

Off to the different rinks each week

Favorites were Vickery and Cotton Bowl

On the floor, we three would streak.

Service men were there galore

Army, Navy, Marines and Air Corps

All in uniforms of the Armed Forces

All proud to serve, forever more.

We four grew up and all were wed

In difference years, of course

In Oregon one went to live

But she returned ~ her toots to restore.

From us four, some children we had

Exactly six there was to be

The count?  Four girls ~ two boys

All good kids ~ on that , I'll agree.

Precious are the memories past

Fund time, good times of yore

They'll always be held dear to me

All these riches I'll save and store.
