What is this I see out front?
At the edge of my front yard,
Could it be a scary stranger?
Or just a "Scarecrow" standing guard?
I backed into my neighbor's lane
As I drove to town this morn
To see what Travis had displayed
Arranged were pumpkins, hay and corn.
Something strange was atop the hay
It looks like a handsome "Scarecrow"
Sitting there so sturdy and staunch
Looking so happy and all aglow.
I really don't think this "Scarecrow:
Would even scare the birds away
A scary look he does not have
He'll make the people feel really gay.

Pants were made from 2 gunnysacks
A top his head an old farm hat
A pretty shirt of many colors
Around his neck is his fancy cravat.
You'd chuckle when you see his face
That happy face with such a nose
Big and round and just a fit
When Halloween's over, away he goes!
Will Travis throw a Halloween Party?
Or - to someone's party he will go?
Fun he'll have, I have no doubt
But watch for Goblins lurking low.
Halloweens come and they go
I'll sit at home with lights turned out
Reminiscing of past "Spooky Days"
Hoping I'll hear no noises about!
