As I sit in my chair and look out the window
I see some dainty and graceful butterflies
Fluttering about, but always in pairs
Two beautiful creatures, I see with my eyes.
These beautiful creatures are pure yellow
Their species, I know not their name
At times, I've watched them from the porch
They flutter near you, just like they're tame.
They visit the blooms of the orange trumpet vine
And visit each little lily of yellow and red
Two butterfly bushes they investigate
I get a close look, when they fly by my head.
A butterfly bush in our front yard
By the bell post, the butterflies come
Fluttering and lunching from the orange blooms there
When they're in sight, you can't be glu
There are some birds that samples these blooms
My "hummers" dart to and fro: in and out
Butterflies and Hummingbirds!
They've had another admirer! Miss Calico.
Calico use to lie on her "throng"
Butterflies and Hummers she would watch
These two species were good entertainers
But never would she ever try to make a catch.
My Dear Little Yellow Butterflies
So graceful you flutter; hither and yon
But then when summer and fall have passed
My Little Yellow Butterflies have all gone.
