I left my roost this morning early
To take a flight towards the pond
For food I know I'll find there
Of which I'm very fond.
With my friends we flew about
Circling and gliding, having fun
Suddenly I saw something very strange
I'll not leave till I have won.
From the bushes this creature rose
Ever so slowly as not to scare
What ever it may have been looking for
I'll fly a little closer, if I dare.

I flew real close to take a peek
An upside down approach I made
All I could see was another eye
This creature was surely not afraid.
This creature was really just a man
With his binoculars to see far off
Out in the field surveying the birds
They all flew off when he had to cough.
Could there really be a moral
To this little bit of verse?
There are lots to see, I guess
In this, our great wide universe.
