Mr. Texas Cowboy

Today was such a pretty day

I had to solve this tugging at my heart

Into the car with camera in hand

I was eager to depart.

I chose this seldom traveled road

Out in the country where ranchers live

When off in the distance I did spy

An object of sorts: soon I'll arrive.

Just standing there beside the road

This object I saw, you'll never guess

So sturdy and stanuch, just looking ahead

Dressed up in his native dress.

It was a tin man made like a cowboy

Hat and a gun; cigarette in mouth

Right down to his feet, he had on boots

That's what I saw, while driving south.

This tin man cowboy is a mailbox

He even had his spurs attached

The mail is put right thru his tummy

To hold all the junk mail, that is dispatched.

This mailbox belongs to a rancher nearby

A rightly and justly name, I gave this tin man

"Mr. Texas Cowboy" is the name of this guy

To this special cowboy, I'll always be a fan.

I proudly showed him off, to visitors I've had

One lady was from Oregon who came to visit me

Lots of mailboxes I've seen while traveling

This one is a Texas Cowboy, the best kind to be!
