I don't remember my first Christmas
For I was two weeks short
Of being one year old
But Santa came, he was a sport.
Santa left a little dollie
Under our Christmas Tree just for me
I said little ~ for it is only
Eight inches tall ~ just right for me.
It is a special little dollie
It is a little black Ba~by
I loved it all that much more
Over 78 years, it's still with me.
I do not think I ever named her
But I was never told I did
I guess I just called her "Baby"
I loved my dolls when I was a kid.
Over the years
My mother has sewn
Making clothes for all my dolls
I'm young at heart but I have grown.

I asked my mother one last time
To make my dollie a new dress
For after 50 years or so
Her clothes began to look a mess.
My mother made a new dress
Trimmed with rick-rack oh so red
She also made a cap to match
With ribbon red; tied on her head.
But then my mother was not through
Dressing my dollie just for me
She made a matching diaper, too
Booties of red, just for thee.
Now my dollie sits on my mantle
All dressed up and no place to go
Displayed in her domed~glass cover
In her new clothes made of Calico.
Some five years later
Santa left for me
A pink doll buggy for my dolls
I guess that Santa really loved me.
