Two or maybe three years ago
To Mesquite one day I went
For my Sister I had to see
There is where my day was spent.
To and Fro, we rocked and talked
Once we went out in her yard
On her bench were these bulbs
Some she's go-ing to discard.
My Sister gave me one of these
Resurrection Lily, its name sounds dear
Its foliage dies off but later on
A tall stem with blooms appears.
I planted this bulb in our front yard
Where I could closely watch it grow
Nothing ever peeped thru the soil
Until about a month ago.
Walked to the mailbox one fine day
On my return, I passed this spot
Several green blades had just came out
I was surprised! It did not rot!
This foliage soon would die off
Nothing there; the ground was bare
When suddenly a tall stem popped up
Six pink blooms, 2 buds" I swear!
It's just the beginning of our Summer
When the blooms came on that stem
Fragile and dainty were these blooms
Beautiful pink colors were these gems.
Guess that is why they named it that
It first comes up; then you think it died
When later, beautiful pink flowers appear
Just like Jesus, it is alive.
