Reminiscing In A Thunderstorm

Coffee cup in hand, I sit on my porch

Reminiscing of our good times together

For you see, today's a special day

It is the birthday of my mother.

This day is so dark and dreary

As a thunderstorm is blowing in

To the North and Northwest I watch

Just waiting for the rain to begin.

The wind is blowing as I sit here

Some photos JR has just taken

Of the oddity of the clouds

Lots of loud thunder! ~ it sounds so mean.

As clouds are rolling and tumbling southward

The winds has now brought in the rain

'Tis pouring down so thick and hard

As it pounds on the window panes.

August 27, 2002

It did not rain so very long

Maybe about ten minutes or so

Dark skies soon began to brighten

Two geese I spied:  across the yard they go.

By late afternoon, the sun came out

Clouds all gone, everything looked clean

Soon I'll have to mow the yard

Because brown grass will soon turn green.

Of happy events on birthdays past

Eighty-three of them there were

So on this, her special day

I'll reminisce and think of her.
