The Almond Tree

My son has met a new found friend

He tells me Car-o-lyn is really nice

A pretty home and yard and acreage

As they chit-chat in the office.

He tells me she has flowers and trees

The trees she has are "am-mons"

But after the fruit is har-vest-ed

The fruit is then called "almonds".

I do not know why, that is

Seems very strange and funny to me

I'm not a farm-er myself, you see

It must be tue, I'll let it be.

He really likes the new found friend

They laugh and talk of things they've done

My son will really miss Car-o-lyn

When homeward bound, she will be gone.

To discover more of his State of Texas

My son would open the welcome gate

So back to Cal-i-for-ni-a she must return

One day: Who knows? Behold the hands of fate?
