To A Dear One

My postman left a letter for me

From one who's really dear

It only brought me news

I did not want to hear.

South to Willis I drove Old Faithful

My other sister for to see

She's checking into Memorial Hermann

And will, she'll soon be.

When released, I'll take her home

To really re-cu-per-ate

All her friends will want to help'

I know she'll really ap-pre-ci-ate.

The visiting nurse made a visit

Taking blood pressure, pulse and stuff

If extra help, she should need

Making her recover not so rough.

All too soon I'll have to leave

Back to Kilgore I must go

Really and truly, I love this gal

This, you surely know.

STOP!  Take time to tell someone

How much they mean to you

Before it is too late

Then this you cannot do.

Into my life you entered

Just short of 60 years ago

To me, you've always been a blessing

My love for you still grows, I know.
