To Chris, With Love

It seems so very long ago

When you were just a bundle of joy

Great-Great and I would come to visit

Just to hold this baby boy.

You surely had some rough ole days

To the hospital, we would go

Just to talk and hold your hand

The smile upon your face would glow.

You were just the age of three

When you first came to visit me

Along with your Great-Grandparents

Happy as a boy could be.

I took you for a tractor ride

Down around the Wady Loop

It was a little cool and windy

We had fun. You let out a whoop!

When bedtime finally rolled around

To the bathroom you did fly

To brush your teeth, you had to do

No toothbrush?  I told you not to cry.

I'll show you how you brush your teeth

No brush in hand! A finger you have!

Upon your forefinger I gave a squeeze

Of toothpaste, a good burshing you gave.

By then, I thought that you were through

You spied my bottle upon the counter

Mouthwash you just had to sample

I poured a capful!  At it, you're no amateur!

A brave little tyke, you always were

The years ahead, you really grew

You turned into a romping lad

Off to school, the years, they flew.

You came again, some years later

Can't remember just how that came to be

Could it be you visited cousins?

Then, I took you to Mesquite with me?

School graduation soon came to you

In this ole world, another step-up

A job, I'm told, you've done real well

I see that happiness has filled your cup.

I hear there is this pretty girl

A pretty name she also has

"Maryanne", uniquely spelled

My, Oh My!  She does have class.

I've been told the two of you

The "KNOT" you'll soon tie

I'll send you all of my "Best Wishes"

May happiness grow, as time goes by.

I love you Chris, so very much

You've always been so loving to me

On your Wedding Day to come

Happiness always, you should be.

Great-Great Aunt Bessie
