Tucson

Southern Pacific went thru K. Falls

From San Francisco to Portland it ran

For one year, I lived in a house trailer

At S. P. Stockyards, my adventure began.

Cattle that raveled in cattle cars

After so many hours riding the rails

Then unloaded, watered and fed

To keep the cattle, hearty and hale.

Once a shipment of donkeys came in

One mama donkey had just given birth

That shipment stayed for several days

I wondered what one donkey would be worth!

Unloading the donkeys from the freight car

I saw one that I thought really cute

'Twas light beige in color with a dark brown stripe

I claimed it as mine as it came through the chute.

I thought I just had to have him to ride

My father-in-law bought him just for me

I gave my new friend a Southern Name

TUCSON just fitted him right to a tee.

Our mailbox was near the railroad crossing

TUCSON and I would go get the mail

He never faltered and rode like a dream

Even though he was slow, just like a snail.

Riding and playing with Mr. Tucson

Soon the fun of it grew old

A fellow we knw offered to trade for him

I said good-bye:  the man gave a watch of gold.
