It's not so far out to the barn
An incline grade is all the way
For me to walk, it is exhausting
It really tires me for the day.
If only I had some sort of wheels
My little problem would be won
My wheels and me can cross the meadow
To the barn and have some fun.
It is amazing what people discard
Items that looks almost like new
I looked around at several places
Before I knew it, I was through.
I think I've found just what I need
These each little part
I worked and assembled them all together
Hoping this fool thing would really start.
The motor was put in the water tank
Concealed where no one could see
Just in case the motor won't start
Using the foot pedals, I could flee.
The pedals are a safe haven
For my feet to rest upon
Let me see how I'll sit on here
I'll crank it up out on the lawn.
Yea! It started right off the bat
I think it really looks unique
So off to the barn on its maiden run
Gotta be careful on my wheels so sleek.

At the barn, my son has built
A module with tracks and trains
There is a mountain and a village
With an airport and some planes.
There was a cemetery, church and school
Train depot and a Main Street
Right through the middle of town
Everthing really looks nice and neat.
Cap on head, I'm the "loco" engineer
On this engine called "CALICO"
I'd make a run thru the mountain
Then down the backside by a white bungalow.
Miss Calico is the long-time owner
Of this lovely bungalow: you see
She's loved by all who meet her
A grand lady she'll always be.
So it isn't a surprise at all
This little village so rightly named
Cause CALICO, TX is now historical
Township has now been proclaimed.
I steamed the Calico on into town
On the crossover track I had to go
Deliveries were to be made
People had best watch out below.
Deliveries and switching were completed
To the other track I had to be
Using the remote, just flip the switch
Nothing to it as I can see!
This engineering job is tiring
I think I've worked enough today
I'll make a circle around the meadows
But I'll come back another day.
