I decided I'd take a little trip
Last June I journeyed to the west
I found myself in the Metroplex
Seeing things that I thought best.
Landed in the "City of Mes-quite"
I stopped for a while at my sister's house
I did not know she had company coming
Who could it be? I'll be quiet as a "mouse".
To the door, a dog appeared
This feisty canine was energetic
He was followed by his Mistress Lisa
I mean to tell you, he missed no trick.
I soon found out he had a name
An odd name for a dog in a way
Someone had called to him, "SCOOTER"
Stopping and looking, he did obey.
A pretty dog; a chocolate shiny brown
His very own blanket, Scooter would throw
When sleepy and tired he would feel
Under the blanket on the floor he'd go.
They let Scooter in the yard to romp
Rolled in the grass and checked out the garden
He could not find a nary fire hydrant
He just settled for a private place, then.
Scooter soon had enough of the romping
Soon he found a neat place to lay
He jumped on the glider to take a snooze
Here for a while, he'd like to stay.
It was getting late, and I must go
Back to East Texas where life is slow
To Scooter, I will say, "Good-bye"
One thing I'll admit, "Scooter is a beau".
