Youth To Golden Years

Years ago in Dallas

A baby girl was born

Happy were the parents

On that early Thursday Morn.

My "youth years" were so long ago

Spent in the school of learning.

Eleven year in all, it was

In May '42 I was graduating.

I worked a while in "Big D:

Four years later, I went out West

There in Reno I then wed

An Oregon guy I thought was best.

Living in K Falls was really nice

No prettier country you'll ever enjoy

I worked at home and then one day

I became a mother of a baby boy.

Some years later, we move back home

To the big ole Texas State

Then all that schooling came in handy

Job hunting - accounting was my fate.

Working for years in the City of Dallas

My son grew up way too fast

He's finished school and working hard

For now he is a man at last.

I grew older and moved away

East of Dallas to Liberty City

Bought some land - built a house

Soon we had company - a stray little kitty.

This kitty was a Calico Kitten

A home she needed and so she stayed

Over 19 years she was my "CALICO"

From her home she never strayed.

They called it your "Golden Years"

And I have reached that age

I don't know why they call it that

Could it be another marking of life's gauge?

Youth to soon is over

Precious memories I've shared with all

In our hearts we're forever young

Going down life's highway, do not fall.
